You can gain many valuable cybersecurity skills online now. To celebrate National Cyber Security Awareness Month (NCSAM) we put together a list of 50 schools offering cybersecurity degrees online.

While online courses have long offered convenience and flexibility for working parents and those too busy to deal with the schedule and structure of in person classes, the COVID-19 pandemic has forced many institutions, some that aren’t yet allowing students back on campus, to offer classes online.

One outcome of this is that more schools than ever – technical colleges, regional colleges, and even military colleges – are offering degrees for anyone interested in enhancing their cybersecurity skills without pausing their careers.

The last several years has seen the gap between cybersecurity talent and open jobs - both in the government and the private sector - widen. Per the Bureau of Labor and Statistics’ “Occupational Outlook Handbook,” between October 2018 and September 2019 there were 270,000 job openings nationwide for Information Security Analysts.

These are well paying jobs, too. According to the CIA’s Career Opportunities website, cybersecurity graduates can potentially expect to earn a median salary of approximately $100,000 working as cybersecurity officers or information security analysts.

One of the best ways to bridge that gap is to pursue a career in cybersecurity and learn how to manage the people and technologies required to protect information, information systems and infrastructures.

In honor of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM) here’s a roundup of 50 accredited schools that are offering bachelor’s degrees and master’s degrees in cybersecurity online today.
