Senior Vice President, Global Services
Mark is an accomplished, results-driven senior information technology leader with extensive experience managing diverse technology organizations.
At Digital Guardian, he is responsible for driving customer success across professional services, managed services, and support and training.
Prior to Digital Guardian, Mark was Area Services Director for BMC Software, a $2 billion leader in the business service management space. Previously, he served as Senior Director of Professional Services for Progress Software, a $550 million provider of application infrastructure software and services. In this role, he managed and directed a team of 80+ technical field personnel to help drive a $225 million sales region.
Mark is known for his high-energy emphasis on customer success, leadership and teamwork, and his tireless work ethic. Throughout his career in software development and consulting, he has succeeded and established higher standards by focusing on results and driving excellence through his efforts and his teams’ performance. With a distinguished academic record — and worldwide work experience in developed and developing nations throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas — he delivers results as a true, technology-savvy business leader in the software industry.
Senior Vice President, Global Sales
James has more than 20 years of successful enterprise sales experience and is in charge of all global sales and field operations for Digital Guardian.
As Senior Vice President of Global Sales, James’s operational responsibilities include all field sales and pre-sales functions. In this role, James is responsible for expanding market share, establishing best practices for go to market growth, and empowering the customer-facing revenue engine that is Field Sales.
Previously James was the Vice President of Sales, North America where he built a highly successful team and strategy capable of delivering the unique capability and business value of the Digital Guardian solution. The North American territory grew more than 30% year over year, underscored by significant success in capturing new logos and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers. Before leading the North American sales team, James held the Director, Southeast sales role, where he took a greenfield territory and established the top producing Digital Guardian sales region in the world, with growth of over 400% in two years.
Prior to Digital Guardian, James held sales executive positions at BT Global Services, IBM, Network General, Starent Networks, and 3Com Corporation.
Chief Marketing Officer
Connie leads all aspects of the company’s global marketing efforts including strategy, messaging and positioning, brand development, demand generation, digital marketing, channel marketing, website messaging, social media strategy, and analyst and public relations.
Prior to joining Digital Guardian in 2013, Connie was Vice President of Marketing at Veracode. Applying contemporary tactics and an agile marketing approach, she helped position Veracode as the industry leader in application security. She was also responsible for the inside sales and sales operations functions, which drove a tight partnership between the sales and marketing teams.
Connie is a technology startup pro, having spent the previous 12 years in executive management roles at a series of early- and late-stage companies in Greater Boston. She was Chief Revenue Officer at search-marketing startup WordStream, and co-founded ManageContacts.com and CompareTutors.com. Earlier in her career, she served as CEO of Consumer Finance Advisor, Vice President of Client Services at Optas (acquired by Dendrite International), and Vice President of Professional Services at Wheelhouse.
Connie has a business degree from Laurentian University in Ontario, Canada, where she was the recipient of the Terry Fox Humanitarian Award. She’s also a proud member of the MIT extended family, having served as a mentor for the MIT Venture Mentoring Service.
Chief Product Officer
Dave leads product strategy for all Digital Guardian product lines and works closely with product marketing, sales and field engineering on go to market strategy and product lifecycle management.
Dave has more than 20 years of experience in information security and has excelled in diverse roles within sales engineering, product management, marketing, consulting and managed services.
Prior to joining Digital Guardian, Dave was the Technical Director for McAfee’s Security Management Platform business unit, responsible for leading a global technical team of Security Evangelists and Solution Specialists focused on accelerated growth technologies, along with participation in the development of products aligned to the business unit. He also served as an active evangelist for McAfee solutions and offerings, authoring whitepapers on SIEM, correlation, and vulnerability management and presented at security conferences across the world.
Senior Vice President, Engineering
Tom leads the engineering function for all product lines including sustaining engineering, quality assurance and product development.
Prior to joining Digital Guardian, Tom was the Senior Vice President of Engineering for the Security Business Unit at CA Technologies where he lead a global engineering team of more than 500 engineers developing seven independent product lines. While at CA Tom worked to improve overall product quality while accelerating the speed of product innovation, which resulted in greater business agility.
Tom has held executive management positions for the past 15 years where he worked effectively with early-stage startups as well larger, established companies. He also founded ProQuent Systems, where he served as the CTO, and has held senior technical leadership positions at eBay Enterprise, Cisco Systems, GeoTel, and Stratus Computer.
Tom holds degrees in electrical engineering and computer science from the University of Lowell and the University of Massachusetts respectively. He is credited with seven issued patents with additional applications pending.
Senior Vice President of Technical Operations
Pete brings over 20 years of startup experience to Digital Guardian.
He has a proven track record of building outstanding, global customer-facing technical teams by combining strategic vision with tactical execution. He also has a wealth of experience in pre-sales, post-sales, professional services, and channel enablement. His experience in scaling global organizations to support high growth has led directly to several successful exit strategies in both IPOs and acquisitions.
Prior to Digital Guardian, Pete was an integral part of Lightbridge, which had a successful IPO. Next up was NaviSite, where he held various leadership positions, helped grow revenue from zero to $100 million, and played a role in one of the most successful IPOs in Massachusetts history. From there, Pete went to Orbograph, where he established the U.S. division and grew earnings by 5x in four years. Most recently, he worked for Passlogix, which was acquired by Oracle.
Jan van Vliet
Vice President and General Manager, EMEA
Jan is a seasoned senior executive with a proven track record of success in both emerging and mature markets. He is responsible for expanding Digital Guardian’s business and market share throughout EMEA, driving strategy and overseeing operations in both regions.
Previously, Jan served as Vice President for EMEA Emerging Markets in the Intel Security Group. He was responsible for Strategy, Business Development, Sales and Operations in Russia, the CIS, the Middle East, Turkey, Israel and Africa, a region that encompasses 85 countries. Jan successfully delivered continuous growth in market share and double-digit revenue growth every year. He tripled the Middle East Business in 5 years’ time and became market leader in Corporate IT Security. Jan joined McAfee in late 2007 from the acquisition of SafeBoot B.V., where he served as Vice President for EMEA endpoint encryption sales. Earlier in his career, Jan was a managing board member at a Dutch IT consulting company and played a key role in its successful IPO in 1999.
Jan holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Computer Science from the Delft University of Technology. Currently Jan is shareholder and serves on the advisory board of Nochii Online Marketing B.V., an online marketing company in the Netherlands.
